Softer 70 durometer seals are sometimes preferred for general industrial and automotive use. Where the sizes are preferred for quick coupling repair seals, we carry stock. Our numbers include the AS568 size reference. This list is limited to popular inch sized s since the AS568 specification lists about 350 sizes up to 26" diameters. To view a complete listing of AS568 sizes check our see under the Resources tab. Actual cross sections are larger than nominal size to allow for compression sealing. Cross sectional compression should be 10-30%. In addition, o-rings should be specified that are slightly smaller than the actual diameter of the rod or tube, so that they fit snugly. Ideally, the should be stretched 2-3% on installation. Please note, nitrile o-rings are rated for use up to 130°C (266°F) while FPM (Viton®) o-rings are rated up to 200°C (392°F).
